Nova Scotia Belly Dance

When I started dancing in 2002 I realized that I had found something that touches my heart with its passion, and challenges my mind and body with its complexities.  Since then, I have followed my heart and have had wonderful instructors to lead and teach me. 

To further my understanding of the structure and rhythms of Middle Eastern music I began playing the doumbek and riqq, (Middle Eastern percussion instruments).  The doumbek is often interpreted as the heartbeat in classic Belly Dance music.  I think of my self as a student for life, in both music and dance, and will continue to train and study as much as I can.

I enjoy many styles of  Belly Dance, from classic/traditional to modern fusions.  I believe that learning from different teachers, and experiencing various styles of Belly Dance helps to improve one's dancing, as well as discover one's own style.  I encourage my students to explore!  My teaching focuses on technique and encourages each dancer to follow their own personal, stylistic path.
